If an accidental fall, blow to the face or other oral incident has cracked one of your teeth, you will need to keep a level head. Most cracked teeth involve damage to the internal structures of a tooth. This often requires your dentist, Dr. Allan Stevenson, to extract the tooth to prevent complications. Later, he can restore the cracked tooth with a dental implant in Parma, Idaho.

To begin treatment, Dr. Allan Stevenson will examine your gums and take a few X-rays, which will help him determine the amount of available bone structure. If the extraction procedure left you with insufficient bone structure, he might recommend receiving a bone graft so you have sufficient bone structure to anchor a dental implant.

The implant procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis and it requires you to be deeply sedated. This means that you will need to have someone drive you to and from your appointment.

During the treatment, a small incision will be made in your gums to gain access to the bone. A narrow channel will be made in the bone and then a titanium abutment will be screwed into place. Titanium is known to be biologically safe and will eventually fuse to your bones to create a very strong anchor.

Once your gums have healed and the titanium abutment has fused with the surrounding bone tissue, our Trailridge Family Dental team can go about the process of fitting the abutment with a dental crown.
